Edafe Okporo, Director of RDJ Refugee Shelter, will talk about his refugee experience and his new book "Compassion is Worth More: Using Your Civil Power to Create Change," a book that supports younger people who want to create change and encourage older people to continue the fight for equality.

Join NFR for a special program on the global refugee crisis, featuring Rebecca Kirzner, Senior Director Grassroots Campaigns at HIAS; Manny Lindenbaum, Holocaust survivor; and Ahed Festuk, Manager of Humanitarian Relief at Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees. Ahoud Bata, owner of Fez, Turkish Meze in Mamaroneck, NY, will discuss food culture in the Middle East. She’ll talk about how her small family-owned business is faring during the pandemic and about the similarities and differences between popular dishes, such as hummus, kebabs, and moussaka. This conversation will appeal to both carnivores and vegetarians.
